Drawing
Exploration through shading creating forms of different shapes that make up an object or a person.
Connected Lines
18x24
This piece observed perpetual grids. Through using a Mondrian stick and following the still life in the drawing studio. This helped show connection between different objects and their points

The Hall
18x24
Using the halls of Applied Art as a subject, I found a space reflecting a one-point perspective. I used the space as if the walls to your left and right were right angles to me, and the wall opposite is parallel to me. Leaving the guidelines in the final piece to emphasize the focal point

Library
28x18
Having the freedom to choose a building on campus I selected the library to capture in 2 point perspective.I considered large structures and shapes first, situating smaller decisions in relation to these. This is a transparent drawing; that allows lines of to run across the surface of the drawing, connecting forms to the vanishing points.

Direction of Nature
26x30
This is an exploration of the cause and effect of light. This work aimed at using a limit of 3 values.Through this limited use of value, I explored how clear or ambiguous edges between shapes interact. This was the drawing 1 final.

Up High Cowboy
18x24
A still life drawn from in class. The goal was to focus on line variation, emphasis and hierarchy using compressed charcoal pencil. I placed emphasis on the cowboy hat and used lines to help move the viewers eyes and draw attention. I Use value as a secondary or tertiary element to reinforce focal point hierarchy

Exquisite Corpse
18x24
This work was an interpretation of the game Exquisite corpse. Converting a sketch made by three peers and myself. This piece is a mixed medium exploration with charcoal. This piece focuses on a variation of emphasizing value, texture, line and shape to create a visually interesting piece that has a clear form.

The Orange Chair
26x30
This drawing introduced local color through oil pastel drawing from still life. This focused on desaturating colors by mixing complements and using primary and secondary colors. I chose to place emphasis on the subject matter of the chair.

Abstracted Leaf 1
18x24
This piece was an introduction to abstraction based on organic forms. Cut up drawings of an observed plant were combined to create an abstract composition. I then chose a triadic color harmony to feature. From there I worked to place the different pieces. I focused on using thick and thin lines that vary in saturation and value.

Unleashed
Inspired by different sketches of plants I observed, I created an abstract piece. Choose a triadic color harmony to feature. From there I worked to place the different pieces. I focused on using thick and thin lines that vary in saturation and value.
